American Library Association

Older than the IRS but young at heart

Julie started this group to follow up on some of the issues raised in her recent RUSQ article. (An aside: I love the way RUSQ archives their articles so nicely...what a great convenience, and a fine way to share things with others who may not have a print copy handy.)

I keep a list of college "one book" programs. If you have one on your campus that isn't on my list (or is out of date) drop me a line.

Hello Barbara -- we are starting a sort of one book program here but it won't be fully integrated into the curriculum this first year. All freshmen will be asked to read Greg Mortenson's "Three Cups of Tea" before the convocation on August 27 where the author will speak. The library is now figuring out how to promote this and how to insert ourselves into this program since it started elsewhere -- we love that it's happening and we really love the book choice and speaker. And we want to help make it successful.

For more info on the convocation and the program see http://www.montana.edu/convocation/ and http://www.montana.edu/cpa/news/nwview.php?article=4944

Thanks, Jan! I added it to my list - neat that the author lives in Bozeman. I see at least two other schools have chosen that book.
